I think my favorite part of Sandy Masons writing style is his blending of fiction around some actual history. In this novel the author takes the story (mostly true) of his real life grandfather who was in the Spanish American war, spent time in China, Cuba & Panama, and was a NYC policeman during prohibition, and makes it the backbone of a modern day murder mystery tale set on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I really enjoy the historic & descriptive flashbacks of several generations passed and the clever way it’s connected to our protagonist Johnny Donohue & his knack for finding trouble. After reading however, I do have one question…”who stole the baseball cards?!”Product details

I enjoyed this intriging story with a personal flare aimed at preserving family history. Sandy Mason reveals some of the background and adventures of his grandfather combining a mix of history and suspense in a tale surrounding a sea artifact that leads to a dangerous trail including solving a murder. There are lots of twists and turns in the journey that culminate in a suspensful ending. Great read.
Interesting historic flavor in this Johnny Donohue episode. I've read the whole series and am enjoying the way Johnny is solidifying as a character.
Johnny needs more adventures! Maybe Race cars in Sebring or hot air balloons in Lakeland...
It is a delight to get to know the characters that live in Dolphin Cove. The latest adventures in Havana Moon keep you turning the pages to find out the true story of the U S S Brooklyn. Fun read with a lot of history thrown in. I enjoyed it
Simple easy plot. Main Character Johnny Donohue is a likable character and the plots are not complicated. This ending was a little too far fetched and seemed rushed to finish.
